Stakeholders of German Development Cooperation in Malawi

Within the German Government, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is responsible for development cooperation with Malawi. The Ministry commissions the implementing organizations with the realisation of the development-policy projects and programmes of the German government. All the activities are funded completely by the German national budget.

The tasks of these organisations include:

• Implementing Financial and Technical Cooperation projects
• Preparing and seconding experts and volunteers
• Providing vocational training to specialists and executives from partner countries.

All members of German Development Cooperation are active in Malawi:

• The German Embassy coordinates the work of the implementing organisations.
KfW Development Bank is responsible for Financial Cooperation.
• The "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)" implements Technical Cooperation. GIZ gives advice to government institutions, prepares and seconds development workers, places international experts in institutions of partner countries and conducts human resource development and advanced training.

With these different instruments, German Development Cooperation can provide assistance in a flexible way and on all levels, be it central or local. We  develop tailor-made solutions together with the partner.
